Decolonize Lupita

$25.00

Decolonizing isn't an easy process, sometimes it's a mesh, a clash and even a symbiotic relationship. This is how I see la virgencita de Guadalupe - tatted up in the old ways, but somehow still very present. Old tattoos showing who we are, or once were. To relate to el pueblo, to organize it you must work within this intersection, the sacred, the old, the now and what will be.

She has represented earth, pain, hope, and identity as Mexican/indigenous peoples. tatted up with images of the sun and the rain. her chest with a necklace that represents life and death (to give and to receive), her elbow a spiders web that encapsulates stuck in time, or trapped - but please make my images find you and what they tell you, these are stories, this is how I chose to share stories and teachings, through images.

Thank you for all the support as always!
